In the parish cemetery in Mirovice there is a monument to the victims of the concentration camp for Roma people at Lety u Písku. It consists of a commemorative plaque placed there by Adolf Adolf Vondrášek, plaques with the names of the buried prisoners placed there by the Roma themselves, and a sculpture called The Mourning Mothers. All of the memorial plaques are made of black polished stone and bear gold and silver inscriptions. The sandstone sculpture depicts three tall figures in long cloaks and hoods, their faces turned towards the ground in a mournful pose. The monument is located in the far-left corner of the cemetery where the bodies of the prisoners were buried.

In the period between the opening of the concentration camp for Roma people at Lety u Písku in August 1942 and the camp getting quarantined in January 1943, the parish cemetery in Mirovice was used to bury prisoners who died there. The prisoners were buried by the cemetery wall in unmarked graves. Approximately 180 prisoners are buried there. In total, about 335 prisoners, mostly children, died during the camp's operation. From January 1943 onwards, due to the epidemic of typhus and typhoid fever, the camp was quarantined and bodies were buried in a makeshift burial ground behind the camp. The people of Mirovice protested to the further burial of the prisoners in the parish cemetery for fear of overcrowding and also for fear of the spread of typhus.
For many years the graves remained unmarked. Adolf Vondrášek, who moved to Mirovice in 1964, became interested in the fate of the prisoners when he lived in the house of one of the former camp guards. He began to investigate the events that had taken place at Lety and interviewed people from the surrounding area who had come into contact with the camp – doctors, neighbours, gravediggers. Adolf Vondrášek became mayor and used this position to attempt to amend the injustice done to the Roma. In 1991, at a meeting of the town council, he put forward a proposal that Mirovice should face up to its past and build a monument in the cemetery. At that time, the Lety camp was not yet much talked about in the Czech public sphere and the mayor's activities went largely unnoticed. The memorial plaque was unveiled in 1992 in the presence of a priest and local residents. Before that, there was a smaller tombstone at the cemetery, which was quietly placed there by the relatives of the victims of the Šmíd family in 1960.
In 2000, a memorial plaque was added by the Committee for the Compensation of the Roma Holocaust with the support of the Government of the Czech Republic. In 2007, the sculpture The Mourning Mothers was unveiled, which consists of figurative sculptures and a broken Roma wheel. The author of the sculpture is Čeněk Růžička, a descendant of the victims of the camp, and Michal Moravec, an academic sculptor. They then had the names of all those who, according to available records, should be buried in the cemetery, i.e. approximately 150 children and 30 adult prisoners of the Lety camp, placed on memorial plaques on the cemetery wall.
