The metal memorial plaque is located on the wall at the far left of the parish cemetery. Its upper part is the base for a sculpture made of the same material, which depicts Jesus Christ on the cross. Its lower half contains a dedication in Romani and Czech in raised capital letters.

Between 1942 and 1943, a concentration camp for Romani people was located near the village of Hodonín u Kunštátu. They were rounded up there and put to hard labour and then transported to the concentration and extermination camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The bodies of the dead prisoners were taken from the camp by horse-drawn cart to Černovice and buried there in simple wooden coffins. Approximately 73 concentration camp inmates, mostly children, are buried at this site. The local parish priest, A. Solař, refused to continue burying the dead in the cemetery in Černovice when the number of deaths increased at the end of 1942, due to the alleged lack of space. He also refused a proposal to consecrate the ground just outside the cemetery wall, where the victims could be buried. Therefore, from 7 January 1943, a burial ground was established near the camp. Most of the victims of the epidemic of typhus and typhoid fever that broke out in the camp in December 1942, for which the camp was quarantined off from 17 February 1943, were also buried there.
In 1998, a memorial plaque was placed in Černovice under the care of the Museum of Romani Culture. The plaque was created by the blind Romani artist Božena Přikrylová (*1978), who made the sculpture in cooperation with Štěpán Axman's studio of sculpture-by-touch.
