The monument in the form a tall stele bears a relief on both faces. One side features fragments of letters, words and numbers and the other resembles clusters of Roman numerals. Patination helps to highlight the relief. Small stones are piled up around the base of the stele.

Sculptor Giorgio Celiberti (*1929) visited Terezín for the first time in 1965 and, according to his own words, the experience of this place had a lasting influence on him. His gift of the Stele for Terezín, did not mark the end of his work attached to the place either. The stele was placed in front of the museum building in the Small Fortress, and the unveiling in 2011 was attended by a large Italian delegation. In the spring of 2024, Celiberti organised an exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague and in Terezín entitled The Essence of Peace / Spirito di pace. The inspiration from his early visit to Terezín was reflected in a number of his works, with which he returned to the Czech Republic years later. The abstract shapes formed by numbers and letters represent one of the distinctive motifs throughout his work.
